The Maine Birding Trail Book - The Official Guideby Bob Duchesne July 21, 2009 Topics: Birding
Where are the best places in Maine to see birds? You’ll find Maine’s birding hotspots revealed in a new book and brochure highlighting the Maine Birding Trail, a series of routes statewide. Birding guide, Maine Audubon trustee, and state Rep. Bob Duchesne of Old Town began researching and mapping the trail in 2003. A long-time advocate for wildlife-watching as integral to nature-based tourism in Maine, he says the project "would not have been possible without Maine Audubon" as well as assistance from state tourism, conservation, and wildlife officials. Published by Down East Books, it reveals secrets for finding sought-after species, and includes more than 100 maps, plus bonus material about birding on Campobello and Grand Manan islands. Mapping and describing the best birding locations, it also lists the species birders likely will find at each destination, in different seasons.
