Road Ecology, Vernal Pools Get BoostDecember 17, 2008 Topics: Conservation | Vernal Pools | Road Ecology
Maine Audubon has won national TogetherGreen grants to launch important work on vernal pool conservation and road ecology. Made possible by Toyota and National Audubon, funding will help Maine Audubon identify and protect vernal pools by: digitally mapping vernal pools, training citizen-scientists to assess sites for conservation, and reaching officials and landowners about the importance of vernal pools. Maine Audubon biologist Barbara Charry has also won a TogetherGreen fellowship. This will support her efforts to reach more audiences on the importance of planning roads to limit their impacts on wildlife and habitat. |
