Annual Pelagic Birding TripTopics: Trips
There are great reasons why Maine Audubon’s annual fall pelagic trip out of Bar Harbor has become such an eagerly anticipated outing for birders from throughout the region—a great boat, great camaraderie, and, of course, great birds! Cruising aboard a 111-foot power catamaran that was designed for speed, stability, and optimum viewing, we’ll be able to reach prime birding areas quickly and cover a large area up to 40 miles offshore that typically is only accessible to birders incidentally via the ferry to Nova Scotia. With the expectation of seeing gannets, several species of shearwaters, puffins, razorbills, pomarine jaegers, a variety of gulls, and both phalaropes—plus the distinct possibility of turning up a skua or other sought-after species— the atmosphere on this cruise is positively festive. And for those accompanying nonbirders there should be plenty of whale sightings and spectacular views of the mountains of Mount Desert Island. This is an exciting opportunity to fill in some of those blanks on your life list in the unique birding habitat of the Gulf of Maine. Limited to 125 participants Learn More About |
